My passion is the complex algorithms and systems that create impactful interactive audio in games.In June 2023, I received my Bachelor's in Computer Science: Game Design at the University of California Santa Cruz. Dracomaton

University of California Santa Cruz Senior Capstone 2023

Dracomaton is a top-down roguelike about Eclipse, a small robot who awakens in an abandoned factory filled with corrupted training bots and the bones of ancient Dragon Gods.


Technical Sound Design

  • Designed sound effects for the Spider, Hunter, Vessel, and Construct forms

  • Designed sound effects for UI

  • Implemented audio systems and assets into Unity using FMOD

  • Programmed audio systems such as the audio dipping while the player is invincible after getting hit

  • Communicated and delegated audio tasks as the Audio Lead

  • Organized audio assets using Google Sheets

  • Mixed and Mastered over 100 SFX using a information priority system

Fury of the Weald

Brackeys Game Jam 2022.2 Entry

You are not alone. The silent solitude of the weald has been interrupted by humans, once again. You, the forest's guardian spirit, must roust these insolent pests and destroy their vile machines. Cleanse the land of the humans' waste, and show no mercy as you invoke the wrath of Mother Nature.

Won 1st Place in the Audio category out of 1081 Entries!

My Contributions:

  • Designed all sound effects.

  • Implemented all sound using FMOD, including the light C# scripting required for complex events.

  • Created a set of tones that slowly build up as the player captures a destroyed generator that scales with any capture time. The evolution of the sound is done using a “percentage complete” variable that is communicated to FMOD.

  • Implemented adaptive music by using a C# script to update FMOD variables in time with the music. Notably, a boolean representing whether a generator zone needs to be captured controls the change in the instrumentation of the battle theme.

UCSC Class Project

"Quiet your heart and listen and wait,the hexagon has games it wants you to play."Solve puzzles in a mysterious hexagonal set of rooms, and listen as the solutions build a beautiful song.

My Contributions:

  • Designed sound effects for the Laser, Aquarium, and Simon Says puzzles.

  • Utilized Wwise to implement game audio.

  • Designed the aquarium puzzle.

Turnstyle

2022 UCSC Capstone Project

Turnstyle is a turn-based RPG where you balance five party members on a rotating pentagon. Each turn, you can rotate it, so three of them are in and two of them are out of battle. The longer anyone is fighting, the more fatigue they get, so be sure to give everyone plenty of breaks!
Navigate a public transit system infested with monsters, budgeting the party's cash and their patience with each other as you make your way around the city.

My Contributions:

  • Composed and released a 7-song soundtrack on Bandcamp.

  • Implemented all sound using FMOD.

  • Collaborated with programmers to create a dialogue system that allowed for streamlined sound implementation.

  • Mixed and mastered game audio using FMOD VCAs and sends.

Gambler's Fall-acy

Game Maker's Toolkit Game Jam 2022 Entry

Legends speak of Gambler's Fall, a dungeon which holds treasure and peril in equal measure. Today, another soul tests his luck within the depths. Defeat waves of dice-borne monsters to extract the essence of chance from their vessels, fueling your magic and furthering your descent into the dungeon Gambler's Fall!

My Contributions:

  • Designed all sound effects.

  • Implemented all sound using FMOD.

  • Utilized Unity’s new UI system (UIDocument) to create the menus and battle UI.

Sea Star Crossed Lovers

Game Design and Art Collaboration Project

“I’ll make my way to you… I swear it.”Sea Star Crossed Lovers is about two girls, Astra the celestial being and Noelani the ocean nymph, who are separated by the earth's atmosphere. Noelani decides she want to reach her soulmate anyways, and must tower up from her home shoreline with tetrominoes despite the wind and the relentless waves.In this game, you witness Astra and Noelani's plight through interactive visual novel-style sequences, and help Noelani breach the heavens by stacking a tower of physics-based tetromino blocks. Can you see their wishes fulfilled?

My Contributions:

  • Composed soundtrack for tower-building sections.

  • Collaborated with a team of 4 people to create sound effects.

  • Communicated with other club departments to create a development roadmap that fit the game’s scope.

  • Utilized leitmotifs to create a light, uplifting soundtrack in collaboration with other composers.

  • Synthesized atmospheric sound effects and ambience using various types of digital noise.

A year ago, your sister passed away, and moving on has been difficult. You recently moved to a new city, Hitachinaka, in order to get a fresh start. You're not the best at meeting new people and making friends, but you know this will help you heal from your loss in the long run.

My Contributions:

  • Composed the Main Menu and Shiori themes.

  • Collaborated with another composer to create Senko's theme.

  • Recorded and edited Foley for the plantcare simulation sections.

I intended the title theme, Eclipse, to be a representation of the main character's feelings as the game progresses. It starts out slow and distorted as Eclipse wakes up, and becomes clearer and clearer over time as they explore the factory and learn more about its past. Each time they die, their sense of self and existence becomes stronger. What they experience slowly becomes a part of them, and the melodies of the different tracks heard throughout the game flutter by in a collage of memories. In a similar manner, these melodies become more and more familiar to the player as they progress.Morse code translating to "Eclipse" repeats throughout the track, as if something is calling out to them. It stays constant even as the track becomes louder and clearer. Though they never quite understand it, Eclipse feels a deep urge to wake up after years of dormancy; there's something they need to do, and they must do it no matter how many deaths it may take.
